Our Mission
The mission of
the Veterinary Wound Management Society is to advance the art and
science of animal wound management thus promoting excellence in the
field.
Endeavors
to accomplish this mission include:
An annual
conference held during the North
American Veterinary Conference for presentation of clinical cases
and research studies on current concepts in wound management.
Promotion
of research and scientific progress
related to prevention, diagnosis and therapy of animal wounds,
including studies in comparative medicine.
Encouragement
of VWMS members to disseminate
information through publications in
veterinary and comparative medical literature.
Provision
of service to the public using
current wound management medications, materials, and techniques.
The
Veterinary Wound Management Society welcomes veterinarians from
private practice and academia, veterinary technicians, veterinary
students, and other individuals engaged in the practice of, or who
have special interest in the field of, veterinary wound management.
Textbook chapters and manuscripts have been
published that address
both equine and small animal wound management and reconstructive
surgery. It is hoped the Veterinary Wound Management Society will be a
viable addition to the wound management field, with continued growth as
an interest group in North America, having the potential of becoming a
specialty organization with the American Veterinary Medical Association.
